Know thyself...if I knew myself, I would run away.

The foundation of good management is self-knowledge.  In his 1962 remarks to the Corp of Cadets, General Douglas MacAurthur noted that we should "...master [our]selves before we attempt to master others".  I completely agree.  Success as a manager is predicated on a thorough understanding of oneself--your character, strengths and weakness, dispositions, and goals and motivations.
